Cédric Laurant
I am Principal at Cedric Laurant Consulting, an independent privacy consulting firm based in Brussels that works for clients on European and international projects in the areas of data privacy, Internet law and policy, online and consumer privacy, information security and telecommunications. With almost 15 years of experience under my belt in those areas, I handle legal and public policy assignments, as well as government affairs and public advocacy missions. I also currently am a Policy Fellow with Access (New York, NY).
Recently, I was a Legal Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law & ICT (ICRI) of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven) in Leuven (Belgium), a Senior Research Fellow with the Center for Media and Communication Studies at the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary); before that a Visiting Law Professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota (Colombia), and even before that, the International Privacy Director at the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington, DC.
I am an attorney, member of the District of Columbia Bar (US), and a graduate of the Université Catholique de Louvain Law School (Belgium), with a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School (New York).
