Cédric Laurant

I am the owner of Cedric Laurant Law Firm, a sole proprietorship law firm that works on European and international projects in the areas of data protection, online and consumer privacy, telecommunications, information governance and information security for international organisations, governments, trade associations, NGOs and the private sector.  With almost 15 years of experience under my belt in those fields, I handle legal research and public policy projects, government affairs and public advocacy missions, and offer technical assistance, training and capacity building services.

I also work with Ulys, a multi-award winning law firm based in Brussels, Paris and Tel Aviv, and which expertise primarily covers digital issues and the ICT sector.

Recently, I was a Policy Fellow with Access (New York, NY), a Senior Research Fellow with the Center for Media and Communication Studies at the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary), and a Legal Researcher at the  Interdisciplinary Centre for Law & ICT (ICRI) of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.Leuven) in Leuven (Belgium).  Before that, a Visiting Law Professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota (Colombia), and even before that, the International Privacy Director at the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington, DC.

I am an attorney, member of the Brussels Bar (Belgium) and the District of Columbia Bar (US), and a graduate of the Université Catholique de Louvain Law School (Belgium), with a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School (New York).
